Item Barcodes – To help ensure accuracy in receiving and shipping, each item we ship is required to have a 2D scannable barcode visible, and will not be received until it does. **It is typically less expensive to have the barcoding done during manufacturing, but ShipCentral can add the barcodes for you as explained in our pricing structure, but will add receiving time.
- Barcode needed for you to create your products – The barcode for your product will be used as the Product ID as you create each of your products in our software
- Barcode needed for ShipCentral to receive your products – You must identify the barcode for each product as the Product ID on each product in your ShipCentral portal, and each product must have the unique, scannable barcode attached to it to be received into inventory in your portal
Barcode Specifications:
- Formats – UPC, EAN, ISBN, ISSN, QR, etc. Amazon FNSKU barcodes can be used, but Ship Central is NOT liable for mistakes made if the Amazon’s FNSKU / ASIN number changes – See https://shipcentral.com/support/ship-central-receiving-requirements/
- Must be unique and specific to that product type, size, weight, color, variation, etc.
- Each item must have a barcode on it
- Must be printed clearly, and a UPC for example must be no smaller than .25 inches (.635 cm) on its smallest side
- You can buy barcodes certified by GS1 from resellers like www.speedybarcodes.com at low cost
For most applications, we recommend the shorter bars as it can be scaled to fit in smaller places
No Barcode?
Items with no barcode upon arrival can add receiving costs, and receiving time up to 3-4 days.
Standard Procedure for no barcode:
- Items are moved aside as we notify the customer.
- We can provide an authenticated UPC code for a one time fee
- We can apply the barcode to each item on a ¾ inch x ½ inch white label, or standard Amazon FNSKU billed hourly as outlined in your Fulfillment Agreement
- Non-Standard Receiving fees may also apply
